Description
The stepper motor driver module serves as a breakout board for Allegro’s A4988 DMOS Microstepping Driver, compatible with Pololu/StepStick standards. It enables control of a bipolar stepper motor, delivering 1A continuous current per phase without additional cooling, or up to 2A maximum output current with proper cooling and features an onboard potentiometer for current adjustment.
With just two pins from the controller, this driver efficiently controls the stepper motor’s rotation direction and steps. It offers various step resolutions, including Full-step, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16 step, allowing for higher resolutions by energizing coils with intermediate current levels, hence providing more precise movement options. For instance, using quarter-step mode can yield 800 microsteps per revolution for a 200-step-per-revolution motor.
